Frequently Asked Questions

  • All ages! Babies through adolescence.

  • Pelvic floor therapy could be beneficial for your child if they are experiencing day or night time accidents, constipation, difficulty pooping on the potty, withholding of bowel or bladder, frequent stomach aches, bedwetting, and so much more. If your child is 6 years or older and continues to have daytime and/or nighttime accidents, pelvic floor therapy may provide the support they need. Have more questions? • Our goal is to ensure your child feels comfortable and at ease throughout the visit. The session begins with a conversation to understand your concerns, your family’s goals, and expectations for therapy. Our therapist will review your intake paperwork and ask any follow-up questions to better understand your child’s needs. Building rapport is essential, and we take the time to get to know your child in a friendly, engaging environment.

Next, we assess your child’s posture, breathing, major muscle groups, and daily movements through fun and interactive activities. If age-appropriate, we provide general education about pelvic floor function. Together, we will decide if an external assessment of your child’s pelvic floor is necessary. If an external assessment is conducted, a caregiver is always present. We walk you through the process step by step, using visuals to explain the muscles being assessed. This normally happens in latter sessions and not during the initial visit.

If we feel any manual work is necessary during that first visit, we will receive consent at every step, ensuring that both you and your child feel empowered to pause or decline any part of the process at any time.

After a thorough evaluation, we will discuss our findings and collaborate with you to create the best plan of care tailored to your child’s needs.
